About graceland orchards

know about us

Empowering Lemon Farmers for a Thriving Future

Graceland Orchards was registered in 2020 as a private limited company under the laws of Kenya. Graceland Orchards was born out of an inspiration from God
to Mr. Kigo Kariuki, our chairman. He got the message to process lemons and shared with a few people and during a prayer meeting of the Christian Prayer Network (CPN) in 2020, during the epidemic. After he shared at the meeting,
a few of us questioned him further as we felt that this was from God. He had received the message in 2019 before Covid 19 had been reported, but by the time he was sharing, the lock downs had happened and lemon, ginger, garlic concoctions had become the remedy for the flu symptoms. Every household was looking to stock lemons but they were in short supply.
Mr. Kigo was also inspired by Gunnar Olson (founder of International Christian Chamber of Commerce, ICCC) who on listening to God had started to manufacture long sleeved PPE's (Personal Protective Equipment) and when the Covid 19 Pandemic was declared, he was ready to supply. He did more business during the lock downs than he had done all the years in his business. So a few of us began to meet every Wednesday morning to pray and brainstorm. The result was the registration of Graceland Orchards to champion production, Agricorp Processors to process the lemons and Ajira Africa NGO to support the farmers.

A word from our chairman

kigo kariuki

Chairman
I welcome you Men and Women of faith to a journey to both Kwale and Kilifi. The journey started in earnest in the year 2020, during the height of COVID 19 Pandemic when the Lord spoke to me” to process lemons.” In response, Men and Women of faith commissioned pointed prayers in adherence to the command. As part of the journey, these prayer warriors have engaged in a mission to gather nearly every Wednesday morning, each week, for prayers to seek the mind of God. In this respect, we have seen the Lord move strategically to gather the Government, Researchers, Economists, Agronomists and other stakeholders under the auspices of the World Bank for two weeks to develop the National Strategic Lemon Value Chain Policy for our Nation. September 2024 In this Policy, nineteen (19) Counties were identified as suitable for Lemon growing, among them Kwale and Kilifi in the Coastal belt. The Policy identified the promotion of lemon growing, processing and marketing as a Private Sector Initiative. We are therefore, responding to this divine duty of promoting Lemon fruit as a strategic commercial food crop in Kenya.
Please join us as we move South, initially to Kwale and Kilifi Counties, the bastion of divine adventure.
I wish you abundant blessings.
Kariuki Kigo
Board Chair.
