Advanced Lemon Production

We have partnered with local research organizations to propagate the right seedlings that would achieve optimal yield for farmers as well as be attractive to the export market. We guarantee that the seedlings we supply have the highest germination and success rate for the specific area and offers the best opportunity for any farmer interested in establishing a commercial lemon farm. We will operate lemon seedling nurseries in each of our target counties for easier access to seedlings. Graceland Orchards further partners with farmer producer organizations to establish nurseries in proximity to farmers. Our quality control team ensures that all the seeds distributed or propagated at the nurseries meet Graceland’s quality standards.

We offer extension and advisory services to our farmers to ensure they can deliver a quality crop for our sustainable business model. We understand that we optimize value by being able to off take quality fruit produced by our farmers for marketing and value addition. We offer production-related extension services through private extension service providers. The extension officers are contracted by Graceland to support farmers with marketing contracts with the company and will enjoy those services until their farms attain maturity production levels. We will build farmers’ capacity for certification to enhance produce competitiveness in the global market.

Graceland understands that modern commercial farming, especially in ASAL areas, requires alternative source of water to water the trees during the dry periods of the year. We also note that small-holder farmers would struggle to develop water infrastructure in boreholes, dams, or water pans. We have partnered with organizations that will develop water infrastructure for targeted communities to support sustainable farming practices.

We offer sites that are strategically located in targeted counties to showcase model farming based on improved technologies and skills. We will apply TIMPs (Technology innovation and management practices) to improve productivity, soil fertility management, pest and disease management and water management. Our demonstration farms will be used as teaching sites for farmers and farmer groups on best practices. The model farms will be nurtured by Graceland Orchards until maturity.
